Creedence Clearwater Revival
Cosmo's Factory
Original Release: 1970
Synopsis
Named in part after the band’s rehearsal space Cosmo’s, and in part due to the prolific output of the band (it was their fifth album within two years!), Cosmo’s Factory produced three hit singles; ‘Travelin' Band’, the much covered ‘Up Around The Bend’ and ‘Long As I Can See The Light’. Produced by CCR’s main man John Fogerty, and released on the Fantasy label in 1970, the album’s far reaching appeal is ably demonstrated by the fact that the album became a hit on the US soul chart. The band was even covered by Finnish melodic death metal band Children Of Bodom, who recently tackled ‘Lookin' Out My Back Door’. Who Put The Bomp’ s Greg Shaw’s contemporary review reckoned, “Technically, all four members of the group are playing better than ever before…even since the last album (Fogerty’s) inventiveness and the number of styles at his command have more than doubled”.
