Cream
Disraeli Gears (Limited Edition)
Original Release: 1967
Synopsis
Featuring two of Cream’s best-known songs, ‘Strange Brew’ and ‘Sunshine Of Your Love’, according to Q magazine, the second album from the original super-group of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker “was a huge, Top 5 success on both sides of the Atlantic, transforming the shape of rock music, which still draws deeply on its power-trio innovations”. Moving away from their blues roots to a more psychedelic sound typical of the times, Mojo magazine reckoned, “with its perfect Martin Sharp sleeve and disciplined performances, Disraeli Gears was always Cream's best record. It remains so.” Sharp also contributed lyrics to one of the album’s other classics, ‘Tales Of Brave Ulysses’. Recorded in New York, ‘Disraeli Gears’ was Cream’s breakthrough in America, cementing their superstar status.
