Cat Stevens
Tea For The Tillerman
Original Release: 1970
Synopsis
Although originally released in 1970, the title track of singer-songwriter Cat Stevens’ fourth album might be better known to modern audiences for its use on the closing credits of Ricky Gervais’ TV series ‘Extras’. With four of its tracks used in the 1971 movie Harold And Maude, groups as diverse as Boyzone, Mr Big and 36 Crazy Fists have covered songs from this album. An enduring classic that was certified triple platinum in 2001; it was described by Rolling Stone as “encompassing at once the allure of the exotic and the ability to domesticate it”.
