Bob Marley & The Wailers
Live!
Original Release: 1975
Synopsis
Bob Marley & The Wailers was the band Marley formed in 1974 when the original Wailers, including Peter Tosh and Bunnie Wailer, left the band they had originally formed in 1964. Released via Island’s Tuff Gong imprint, and in an era that produced many important, hugely successful live albums, Bob Marley And The Wailers Live! is an landmark in Marley career. Taken from one of his most famous concerts, it shows Bob Marley at his exuberant best. Recorded at London’s Lyceum Ballroom in July 1975, and released that December, it opens with Trenchtown Rock’, and is further enlivened by versions of ‘No Woman, No Cry’, ‘I Shot The Sheriff’ and closes with ‘Get Up, Stand Up’. Rolling Stone’s contemporary review reckoned, “The audience response is electrifying and both the Wailers and the I Threes vocalists are in top form… essential listening for the growing Wailers cult”.
