Synopsis

Bjork’s first record after leaving the Sugarcubes was, according to the NME, “an album that believes music can be magical and special”. Hitting No 3 in the UK, and certified platinum in the US, Debut was produced by Nellee Hooper, whose production credits include Madonna, Gwen Stefani and U2, among many others, establishing Björk as a major artist on both side of the Atlantic. Featuring the hits ‘Human Behaviour’, ‘Venus As A Boy’, ‘Big Time Sensuality’ and ‘Violently Happy’, the album was described by Q magazine as “an album of tantalising contrasts....manages to be bubbly, exhilarating, brazenly dance-oriented and satisfying all at once.”
